OOIO sensors is a self-initiated technology concept developed by Design Individuals in 2025 as a versatile and modifiable fleet of connected sensing devices. The project responds to a common limitation in Internet-of-Things systems: sensors are often conceived as isolated products with fixed functions, limited range and little capacity to adapt across different environments or use cases.
Design Individuals were responsible for developing the core concept, system positioning, naming, visual direction and digital presentation. The central strategic decision was to design ooio as a configurable family of sensors rather than a single device. This modular approach allows the system to address applications ranging from straightforward location tracking and environmental monitoring to more complex interactive installations.
The concept was structured around decentralised, blockchain-enabled connectivity and LongFi™ technology, selected for its potential to support extended communication range and low-power operation. The product family was organised as a coherent system of adaptable units, supported by a clear visual language and digital presentation that explains how different sensors, users and applications could operate within one connected network.
The resulting concept transformed a technically complex combination of sensing, decentralised infrastructure and long-range connectivity into a more understandable and scalable product proposition. ooio now provides a foundation for further technical validation, prototyping and development across logistics, environmental monitoring, smart spaces and interactive applications.
